Walpole Island First Nation is also known as Bkejwanong.

Bkejwanong means place where the waters part or divide. The City of Algonac and Walpole Is.

lie on opposite sides of the St. Clair Riverat it's mouth. This area is part of the St. Clair Flats,

which includes several islands and is the largest fresh water delta in the world.

On Saturday morning, we paddled three 27 foot canoes to Walpole Is.

When we arrived, we presented (l to r) Chief Gilbert, his brother-in law, and Dean Jacobs,

Director of the Walpole Is. Heritage Center,

with Robert Griffing's print of "Tecumseh, Guardian of the Ohio".

The print was donated by Paramount Press & will be displayed in the Heritage Center on Walpole Is.
