St. Clair Flats Historical Encampment
SEPTEMBER 13 & 14, 2003
The St. Clair Flats Historical Encampment is primarily
focused on the daily life activities of the
different peoples that inhabited the Great Lakes region during the time of 1750. First
person impressions are encouraged. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate skills and
crafts of the time period. Authenticity of the time period (mid 1700's) is required.
This is the seventh year for this event, we will have a Native American, French Military,
and
civilian camp. The encampment site will be located 3/4 of a mile from the St. Clair River,
in a
wooded rustic area. The Algonac State Park has approximately 1500 acres, and contains
large
stands of 100 year old oak trees.(Oak Savanna)
CAMPING PARTICIPANTS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
WATER, STRAW, WOOD, ICE, FOOD AND PIT TOILETS. MODERN SHOWER FACILITIES
ARE AVAILABLE, (SHORT WALK THRU WOODS). MODERN CAMPING IS AVAILABLE
AT CAMPGROUND (WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO ENCAMPMENT, BUT OUT OF SIGHT
OF ENCAMPMENT).

A road to the re-enactor's parking lot is adjacent to the encampment. Vehicles will be allowed in the encampment area on Friday to unload and Sunday after 4:00 PM. This road will allow re-enactors to freely come and go without having to drive thru the encampment.
The bus drop off area for the public is adjacent to the encampment.
